The Missouri Coordinating
Board for Higher Education and

FIELDS increases a teachers'
knowledge of Missouri
habitats, helps in the
development of ecological
topics in the classroom,
demonstrates how to integrate
math in science courses, and
explores the use of technology
in developing outdoor research
programs. These
objectives meet many of the
Missouri Show-Me Standards. Teachers develop
activities, learn long-term
field research techniques, and
document student learning
as a result of implementing these
activities in the classroom.
Participants
Participants in this
project are current science
teachers and were offered
three graduate credit hours.
Room and board and mileage
were provided for participants
thanks to a grant from
Missouri's Coordinating Board
for Higher Education and the
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Professional Development
Program.
The FIELDS Project met for
a full week in June and will
also meet in three follow-up
meetings during the fall 2002
and spring 2003.
