The five-acre BSFS site is part of 2,000 acres of restricted-access conservation land (Drury section). The site is near to an additional 3,600 acres of conservation land (Mincy section), as well as land adjacent to the lake and owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A gravel road extends four miles from a locked gate at the nearest county road. Another gravel road connects the station to the lake, allowing boat access.
